Tech Conference Recap: The TGRI Innovation Summit Keynote
Techno Global Research Industries promised to "redefine the human-machine interface." I went for the free lunch. Here is what they actually said.
got a free student pass to the Techno Global Research Industries (TGRI) Innovation Summit. the lunch was a sad wrap. the keynote was... a lot.
the keynote
TGRI's Director of R&D gave the big talk. main points:
- neural interfaces are "five years away from mainstream." (theyve been five years away since i was born.)
- TGRI's Neural Systems Division is working on "non-invasive brain-signal decoding" for accessibility tech. genuinely cool if its real.
- they announced a "global innovation fund" for university partnerships. Nightvale University was on the partner slide. so was some hospital network.
- lots of talk about "responsible AI" and "data ethics". no details. just vibes.
the expo floor
- free stickers: 14 (new record)
- booths with a working demo: 2
- booths with a QR code to a "waitlist": everybody else
- people who asked me if i was "in procurement": 3
my hot takes
- the accessibility angle is the only part i actually believe.
- "we take data privacy seriously" was said eleven times. i counted. thats a weird number of times to say it.
- the R&D guy dodged every question about where the training data comes from.
- the free wrap was gluten free, which my roomate appreciated when i smuggled two home.
would i go again? for a free pass, yes. for $1,200? absolutely not.
